The Nov. 2005 issue of Blade
Magazine has an article on ABS master bladesmith Steve Dunn,
including a number of excellent photographs of his knives and his
engraving. Ray Kirk has a nice article in
Cherokee Nation.

From B.R. The new October 2005 issue of Knives Illustrated
has feature articles on master bladesmith Ed Caffrey and master
engraver Billy Bates. Ed served as one of the MS judges in
Atlanta at the recent Blade Show, and Billy is a regular fixture
at Dr. Jim Batson's Alabama Forge Council.
5/25/05 The brand-new August issue of
Blade Magazine gives the
ABS some great publicity. The editorial on page 10 praises the
ABS for its leadership in the field of cutting competitions, the
article on page 12 provides brief profiles of the five cutters
who will compete for Blade Magazine's National Championship
Competition which will take place at the Blade Show, ABS member
Buddy Thomason who also writes for the ABS Journal has an
unusual article on "crust busters", a beautiful color shot of a
Josh Smith folder appears in a full-page ad on the Blade Show,
there are color shots of the ABS Board Knife, the ABS Master of
the Year Knife, the ABS Master Folder of the Year Knife, the ABS
Journeyman of the Year Knife, and the TOMB Knife of the Year,
Joe Szilaski has a column on "Does Forging Really Make a
Difference?", there is an announcement on the establishment of
the Scott Taylor Memorial Scholarship, there is an article on
Logan Sewell who is a staunch supporter of the ABS, plus
pictures of a number of knives made by ABS members, and a truly
outstanding article with numerous pictures on the ABS Youth
Program headed up by Wes Byrd and Larry Harley!
Fantastic! Next time you see Steve Shackleford or Joe Kertzman,
thank them for this great coverage. This is the type of
advertising that money can't buy, but in closing, there is an
ABS ad on page l02.
The latest, August issue of
Knives Illustrated
has a full-length feature on ABS master smith James Walker
complete with a number of color pictures. The same issue has a
feature on Tahchee and his guardless coffin handle Bowie written
by Dr. James Batson, which throws new light on this fasinating
subject. Finally, there is coverage of the 2005 Arkansas
Knifemakers Show, which was dominated by ABS members, written by
Mac Overton.

The new, April, 2005, issue of Knife World has an article on
ABS Master Bladesmith James Ray Cook beginning on page one.
3/30/05 The new June 2005 issue of Knives Illustrated has
an article on Mike Ruth, an ABS journeyman bladesmith. The same
issue entitled "Why a Handmade Knife?" featuring photographs of
knives made by ABS members Russ Andrews, Bill Moran, Ron Newton,
Timothy Portier, and Dickie Robinson, plus a photo of ABS master
smith Tim Hancock.

has an article on Wes Byrd, co-chairman of the ABS Youth
Program. The new March, 2005, issue of Knife World has a feature
on Chuck Richards, who received his ABS journeyman stamp last
June in Atlanta. Also, the March 2005 issue of Blade
features the late Scott Taylor MS
